My Dear Vrindavana Candra,
Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 12th July, 1970, and noted the contents.
I am very glad that Haladhara has gone to join you in Baltimore center. Now you are three men strong so carry on our program nicely and gradually more sincere souls will come. Do not be disappointed but be always engaged in pushing on Sankirtana, distribution of our literatures, Prasadam, and preaching and classes and sincere souls will come. It is only required that we work very sincerely and Krishna will provide all facilities according to our endeavor.
Regarding your first question: When a person becomes a perfect yogi he can transfer himself to any planet in the material or spiritual sky at his will. That is the perfection of the mystic yoga process. Generally the yogis are impersonalists, therefore they transfer to higher planets within this material world. This is explained in the Second Canto of Bhagavatam. In Chapter VIII, verse XIII of the Gita it is described that the yogi is thinking of the Lord while vibrating Om, so he goes to the Lord’s Abode because he is thinking of Krishna.

To be poor man in this world, material world, is a curse for ordinary, general people
23. July 2013 By Prabhupada News Leave a Comment
video: Iskconbangaloregroup
Prabhupada, New York, November 28, 1966: [...] So Lord Caitanya explained to the poverty-stricken man that simile. The astrologer is foretelling about the poverty-stricken man that, “You are a very rich man’s son. Your father has got so much wealth, but you do not know. Therefore you are suffering.” To be poor man in this world, material world, is a curse for ordinary, general people.
Those who are spiritually enriched, they have nothing to do with this poverty or richness of this material world. But those who are under the concept of material life, poverty is a curse for them. So living entities, they are not meant for being poverty-stricken because they are part and parcel of the Supreme Lord, the supreme proprietor.

Please watch/read it and distribute it, so that as many as possible may gain a deeper understanding of the cruelty and ignorance on which the slaughter house industry is based.

Hasti Gopala Dasa: From the Srimad-Bhagavatam by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
Srimad-Bhagavatam First Part 1962
It is admitted even in the higher circle that in fact, the whole root and background of Indian culture is wrapped in the Sanskrit language. And we know that the foreign invaders of India could break down some of the monumental architectural work in India but they were unable to break up the perfect ideals of human civilization so far kept hidden within the Sanskrit language of Vedic wisdom.
Srimad Bhagavatam is the mature ripened fruit of the tree of Vedic literature ( pp. 66. ). We have just begun to give it rendered into English with broader outlook and it is the duty of the leading Indians to spread up the culture all over the world at this momentous hour of need.

Dear Martin Malles,
Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter postdated July 17, 1969, and I have carefully noted the contents.
I am very pleased to note that you have been coming to our Krishna Consciousness temple in New York and what you are learning there from the disciples and from our literature is provoking you to think very deeply on the matters of self-realization. Actually, what the devotees there are telling you about the Hatha Yoga system is correct. In Bhagavad-gita you will find confirmation of the fact that this Hatha Yoga system is not so easy process as you have been led to believe by various “masters”.
To do actual Hatha Yoga one must not live in the city, but he must go to a sacred spot, and completely freed from all attachments and all material desires and disturbances, he must concentrate his mind upon the Lord within his heart. This process is not completed in just six months time, but it extends over many, many lifetimes. So in this age of Kali Yuga it is not possible to faithfully follow the procedures of Hatha Yoga because our minds are too restless and our lives are very brief.

Mathematics of the Honeycomb: Chance of Physics vs Bee’s Intelligence
21. July 2013 By Prabhupada News Leave a Comment
As Paramatma, Supersoul, the Lord is living in everyone’s heart, and from Him only does one’s power of remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness follow [mattah smritir jnanam apohanam ca, Bhagavad-gita (15.15)].

Physical forces rather than bees’ ingenuity might create the hexagonal cells.
Philip Ball | Nature.com
17 July 2013
The perfect hexagonal array of bees’ honeycombs, admired for millennia as an example of natural pattern formation, owes more to simple physical forces than to the skill of bees, according to a new study.
Engineer Bhushan Karihaloo at the University of Cardiff, UK, and his co-workers say that bees simply make cells that are circular in cross section and are packed together like a layer of bubbles. According to their research, which appears in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface1, the wax, softened by the heat of the bees’ bodies, then gets pulled into hexagonal cells by surface tension at the junctions where three walls meet.
This finding feeds into a long-standing debate about whether the honeycomb is an example of exquisite biological engineering or blind physics.
A regular geometric array of identical cells with simple polygonal cross sections can take only one of three forms: triangular, square or hexagonal. Of these, hexagons divide up the space using the smallest wall area, and thus, for a honeycomb, the least wax.

Who is Guru?
BY: DUSYANTA DASA | Rocana’s Sampradaya Sun
Having enjoyed reading the presentations by Vraja Vilasa Prabhu over the last week I would love to continue the debate to hand. Mainly I agree with some of the points that Vraja Vilasa makes, but there are certain holes in his presentation and his representation of what he thinks Srila Prabhupada is stating.
From the beginning most devotees would agree that a Guru is vital. I am sure all camps would agree with this principle. I don’t think there is any dispute over this principle. To follow Srila Prabhupada and all the other examples given by acting in the way…

Sankaracarya gave a hint about Brahman, teaching everyone to think, aham brahmasmi, “I am the spirit self”
19. July 2013 By Prabhupada News Leave a Comment
video: Carmella Gitanjali Kirtan ISKCON Melbourne
Both Buddhism and Mayavada philosophy reveal only partial truth. Sankaracarya’s Mayavada philosophy accepts Brahman, spirit, but does not describe spirit in its fullness. Mayavada philosophy teaches that as soon as we become cognizant of our existence as Brahman (aham brahmasmi), then all our activities come to a stop. But this is not a fact. The living entity is always active. It may seem that in meditation one can stop all sensual activity, but still one is meditating, and that is also action.
While meditating on Brahman, the Mayavadi thinks, “I have become God.” In one sense, of course, it is correct to think, “I am one with God,” for as spirit souls we are all one with God in quality. But no one can ever become quantitatively one with God. In the Bhagavad-gita (15.7) Krsna declares that the living entities are “part and parcel of Me.” Krsna is completely spiritual (sac-cid-ananda), so each particle of spirit must also be sac-cid-ananda, just as a gold earring is qualitatively one with the gold in a gold mine. Still, the gold earring is not the gold mine.

Gentlemen, the offering of such an homage as has been arranged this evening to the Acaryadeva is not a sectarian concern, for when we speak of the fundamental principle of gurudeva, or acaryadeva, we speak of something that is of universal application. There does not arise any question of discriminating my guru from yours or anyone else’s. There is only one guru, who appears in an infinity of forms to teach you, me, and all others.

In the article by Vraja Vilasa Dasa from the Sampradaya Sun Two Wrongs Don’t Make a Right, the author writes: “Real surrender to Srila Prabhupada means we should follow Srila Prabhupada’s instructions on accepting a physically manifest guru…” I would like focus this article especially on this statement because this seems to be the central point from which the author makes his assertions. First and foremost, Srila Prabhupada has never instructed anywhere that we should approach a “physically manifest guru”. Sure there are places where Srila Prabhupada says we must approach a spiritual master, hear from him, render service under him, and inquire from him – submissively. These are the general aspects of the guru-disciple relationship. However, these aspects do not necessitate the guru from whom one takes initiation being present in his physically manifest [spiritual] body. All of the above aspects of approaching a spiritual master can be done through Srila Prabhupada’s transcendental books, as the following quotes by Srila Prabhupada prove:

Yes, as I have taken this work as my life and soul on the order of my Spiritual Master, similarly if you take my desires as life and soul, then the whole thing is immediately connected with Krsna.

VEDIC VILLAGE REVIEW # 26 | Prabhupadanuga Farm in Fiji

NEW PASSION FRUIT RACK
Passion fruit is a vine that requires a trellis, fence, or rack upon which to grow and produces round fruits up to 3 inches in size. They are used widely in fruit juices and condiments. We use them to make a juice drink for deity offerings (and subsequently, lunch prasadam!). The taste is superbly heavenly; there are yellow and purple varieties. Two years ago one of the first things I planted was 7 vines and Jordan built a rack . However, the bush sticks he used rotted quickly and we had to crawl underneath to look for fruits, an inconvenient and dirty chore. So it was time for a new rack, which was much larger, taller, and built from buabua posts (the longest lasting hardwood in Fiji) with strands of #8 wire. With leverage by long sticks, pushing by bodyweight, rerouting by tedious handwork, the myriad of tangled vines was propped up onto and hooked or tied to the new rack wires and poles.

I recently presented a compilation of quotes by Srila Prabhupada representing some of the methods in which spiritual knowledge can be imparted. I preceded the quotes by assuring the reader that they are not a challenge to the eternal principle of accepting a bona fide spiritual master and surrendering to him, nor an alternative to association with saintly devotees.
In response, one devotee proceeded to argue against Srila Prabhupada’s own quotes by using more of Srila Prabhupada’s own quotes, and then claiming victory by establishing unchallenged siddhanta in a one man argument against himself.
