Prabhupada, Vrindavana, November 1, 1976: […] Kuticaka, bahudaka, parivrajakacarya, and paramahamsa, these are the different stages. When one takes sannyasa, he lives outside the village in a kuti, in a cottage, and the family members goes and delivers him the food, because he is not practiced.

So in the beginning, he keeps up this association of neighborhood or family, but he is not practiced. He therefore lives outside the village, and if somebody gives some food, he eats. Then when he becomes experienced, then he does not accept food from one, either his own home or one home. He takes foodstuff from many homes: “Give me a little piece of capati.”

So somebody gives half, because they are also not overburdened. If they have to deliver, so many sannyasis come, and sumptuous food, then how the grhastha will provide? Therefore though… They do not overburden. There may be other sannyasis, therefore little only. Madhupuri. The Gosvamis practiced this madhupuri in Vrndavana. They lived, but they would take little only from the house.

This is called bahudaka. Then when he has practiced more, he travels all over the world, parivrajakacarya. And when he is fully experienced, then, in spiritual life and everything, then he is paramahamsa. So one must find out a guru who is paramahamsa. Neither kuticaka, nor bahudaka, nor parivrajakacarya. Paramahamsa. So in the Caitanya-caritamrta also, Lord Caitanya says, guru-krsna-krpaya paya bhakti-lata-bija [Cc. Madhya 19.151] This bhakti-lata-bija can be obtained through the mercy of guru and Krishna. Full Lecture

pamho agtACBSP, very nice lecture about Krishna is visible only to the paramahamsa, one who is fully situated in unalloyed devotional service.

Sadhu sanga, nama kirtana, bhagavata sravana, sri mathura vasa and sri murtira sraddhaya sevana (Caitanya Caritamrta Madhya 22.128)

One should associate with devotees, chant the holy name of the Lord, hear Srimad-Bhagavatam, reside at Mathura and worship the Deity with faith and veneration.

Best place to practice these five most important daily activities in our sadhana bhakti is to hear from Iskcon parampara in SRI SRI RADHA KRSNACANDRA MANDIR at Vaikunta Hill in Bangalore.

Then our spiritual bodies will be revealed to us by the causeless mercy of SRI SRI GURU GAURANGA. It takes only one lava matra – a fraction of a second – to get complete saranagati because the SRIMAD BHAGAVAD GITA also says avibhaktam ca bhutesu vibhaktam iva ca stitham bhuta bhartr ca taj jneyam grasisnu prabhavisnu ca (BG 13.17).

Supersoul is always helping us as friend. The Supersoul appears like an individual soul. He is staying as friend. So He has been divided. Vibhaktam iva, “as if divided”. But, Supersoul is not divided.

Paramahamsa is fully self-realized, fully situated on the transcendental platform and freed of kama, krodha, lobha etc. Lust, anger and greed run parallel in the heart and check one’s progress on the spiritual path.

In Bhagavad-gita (3.37) it is stated that lust, anger and greed are the causes of the conditioned soul’s bondage in this material world. Kama esa krodha esa rajo-guna-samudbhavah. When strong lusty desires for sense gratification are unfulfilled, one becomes angry. This anger can be satisfied when one chastises his enemy, but when there is an increase in lobha, or greed, which is the greatest enemy caused by rajo-guna, the mode of passion, how can one advance in Krishna consciousness?

Therefore we need more paramahamsa in our kalau sudra sambhavan society as our beloved acharya Srila Prabhupada, HE is a genuine tirtha kurvanti tirthani. That’s the proof of a bona fide paramahamsa wherever HE goes immediately becomes a holy place because HE is the residence of all the demigods the sum total (Bhag.11.17.27).
