“Time for a Changing of the Guard at the Bhaktivedanta Archives?”

2010 March 10
by admin

Dear Prabhus, Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

In answer to the following question:

wrote:
Are [Nitya-trpta dd] and Krishna Prema still married?

I just now received the following information from an anonymous source:

“No. She went back to her first husband, Ekanath, and [Krishna Prema] is with another woman.”

This is outrageous! From this little tidbit, we can deduce the following:

1. The head of the Bhaktivedanta Archives, Ekanatha Das, used to be married to Nitya-trpta dd, who also now works at the Archives.

2. Nitya-trpta and Ekanatha both got divorced.

3. Both of them remarried, Nitya-trpta dd to Krishna Prema from Italy who got initiated by Bhagavan ex-swami and then re-initiated by Harikesa ex-swami and is now “with another woman.”

4. Nitya-trpta and Ekanatha both got divorced again!

5. Then Nitya-trpta went back to her 1st husband, Ekanatha das at the Archives!

“Jesus Christ – He is preaching God consciousness, so he is our guru, our spiritual master”

Srila Prabhupadas Quotes on Lord Jesus Christ:

He is our guru. He is preaching God consciousness, so he is our spiritual master. Therefore we adore Lord Jesus Christ and offer our obeisances to him.

“Jesus Christ is accepted as the son of God. He presented himself as the son of God. And here Krishna says that ‘I am the Father.’” – Chaitanya Charitamrita lecture, 1968

“…is no difference between God and His servant. Yes. That we say…Because a devotee, like Lord Jesus Christ, means confidential servant of God, there is no difference…”
“Yes. A real Vaishnava, a real devotee, is even more merciful than Krishna. Take Lord Jesus Christ, for example. It is said that Lord Jesus took everyone’s sins upon himself, yet…” read more…

“Christ – Krischto – Krishna – The Name is the same”

2010 March 10

“The name “Christ” means “annointed one”. This is taken from the Greek word “Christos”.

Some language historians trace the Greek language to the oldest Indo-European language, Sanskrit, which is 3,500 to 6,000 years old, perhaps older. By finding a Sanskrit equivilant, it is reasonable that we may be able to ascertain the probable origin of the word “Christ”.

The Greek “Christos” is almost identical in sound and spelling to the Sanskrit word “Kristo”, meaning all-attractive. Sometimes we meet an attractive girl named Krista or Christa. These are common American and European names, having their roots in the Sanskrit Name of the Lord Krishna.  read more…

“Jesus Christ was such a great personality – the son of God, the representative of God.

He had no fault. Still, he was crucified. He wanted to deliver God consciousness, but in return they crucified him-they were so thankless. They could not appreciate his preaching. But we appreciate him and give him all honor as the representative of God.

Of course, the message that Christ preached was just according to his particular time, place, and country, and just suited for a particular group of people. But certainly he is the representative of God. Therefore we adore Lord Jesus Christ and offer our obeisances to him.

Once, in Melbourne, a group of Christian ministers came to visit me. They asked, “What is your idea of Jesus Christ?” I told them, “He is our guru. He is preaching God consciousness, so he is our spiritual master.” The ministers very much appreciated that. ” read more…

“Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy Name”

2010 March 10

Prabhupada, Lecture at St. Pascal’s Franciscan Seminary, Melbourne, June 28, 1974: [...] So this is our Krishna consciousness movement, and we are chanting the holy name of God, and we are recommending others also to chant the holy name of God. God must be, must have some name. In the Bible also it is said… What is that? “Hallowed be thy name”?

Satsvarupa: “Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.”

Prabhupada: Yes. So there is name. God’s name is there. God’s name is Christ or Kristo or Krishna. So we can chant combinedly. Where is the difficulty? So those who are professing Christianity, never mind. You have got the name of God. Otherwise why Jesus recommended that “You glorify the name of God”? That is chanting. So let us combinedly glorify the name of God. This is common platform.

Thank you very much. Hare Krishna. (applause)

“Learn the Art of devotional Service as directed in The Nectar of Devotion”

NECTAR OF DEVOTION: [...] As far as material necessities are concerned, the human civilization at the present moment is very much advanced in living comfortably, but still we are not happy, because we are missing the point.

The material comforts of life alone are not sufficient to make us happy. The vivid example is America: the richest nation of the world, having all facilities for material comfort, is producing a class of men completely confused and frustrated in life.

I am appealing herewith to such confused men to learn the art of devotional service as directed in The Nectar of Devotion, and I am sure that the fire of material existence burning within their hearts will be immediately extinguished.

The Story of Cupid, Kamadeva

2010 March 9

Cupid or Kamadeva, the Vedic deity of Love astride his mount the parrot, whose form embodies Rati, his consort. Together these two deities, Kama (Love) and Rati (Lust) keep even the greatest of transcendentalists under their grasp. Wielding five flowery arrows (representing the five senses), Kama shoots at the living entities using a bow made of sugarcane, and a bowstring made of hovering bees both representing the mind succumbing to lust…

Afraid of Kamas arrows? Well, there is hope. Kama and Rati have competition! The famous south Indian saint, and king, Kulasekhara prays in his Mukunda Mala stotra as follows:

O Cupid, abandon your residence in my mind, which is now the home of Lord Mukunda’s lotus feet. You have already been incinerated by Lord Siva’s fiery glance, so why have you forgotten the power of Lord Murari’s disc?

Srila Prabhupada mentions in his purport to this verse, “Kamadeva is also called Madana, a name that means “one who attracts.” But Lord Krishna is known as Madana-mohana, “the bewilderer of Cupid.” In other words, Krishna is so transcendentally attractive that anyone who absorbs his mind in Him will not be troubled by sex desire. Furthermore, Lord Krishna’s consort, Srimati Radharani, is called Madana-mohana-mohini read more…

“Unselfish Molecules May Have Helped Give Birth to the Genetic Material of Life”

Srila Prabhupada, Recorded on April 19, 1973,

: And I say to them, “If life originated from chemicals, and if your science is so advanced, then why can’t you create life biochemically in your laboratories?”

Unselfish Molecules May Have Helped Give Birth to the Genetic Material of Life

ScienceDaily (Mar. 8, 2010) — One of the biggest questions facing scientists today is how life began. How did non-living molecules come together in that primordial ooze to form the polymers of life? Scientists at the Georgia Institute of Technology have discovered that small molecules could have acted as “molecular midwives” in helping the building blocks of life’s genetic material form long chains and may have assisted in selecting the base pairs of the DNA double helix.

“Without the protection of Gaura-Nitai one cannot get out of the dark well of material existence”

“So I am very glad you are taking care of Nitai-Gaura so nicely, They are so nicely dressed. So continue these activities, and even if you cannot do anything, simply chant Hare Krsna and dance and “Jaya Saci-nandana.” That will make your life perfect.” (Baltimore, July 7, 1976 : 760707CC.BAL)

Without the protection of Gaura – Nitai —Krsna and Balarama—one cannot get out of the dark well of ignorance in material existence.

This is indicated here by the word nocet, which means that one will always remain in the dark well of material existence. The living entity must get strength from Nitai – Gaura , or Krsna-Balarama. Without the mercy of Nitai – Gaura , there is no way to come out of this dark well of ignorance. (SB 7.15.46 pp.) read more…

Bhaktivedanta Archives of the Future

Pratyatosa das: “However, in my opinion, the time has come for a change. I suggest that the Bhaktivedanta Archives ( prabhupada.com/ ) devotees make a leap into the 21st century by making all digital media, especially Srila Prabhupada’s priceless legacy (including the VedaBase), available without copy protection for free on the Internet. As an alternative to the Internet, CDs and DVDs containing the same digital material should be made available to devotees for 10 percent above cost, as I believe Srila Prabhupada has instructed. “  read more…

Pratyatosa Dasa,  USA, Tue, Mar 9, 2010:  Srila Prabhupada said, “A ugly, illiterate rascal, fool, is beautiful so long he does not speak, and as soon as he speaks we can understand what is his position.” Now that we have gotten the Bhaktivedanta Archives devotees to speak, they have revealed that they are not qualified to do what they are doing. I am currently working on an article which will prove that they sometimes contradict themselves, that they don’t understand how to use the Internet to get their Archiving work done, and that they don’t understand how to make Srila Prabhupada’s audio recordings more intelligible using modern technology.

“The Factory cannot produce Milk or Food Grain”

2010 March 9

Prabhupada, Mayapura, October 15, 1974: But to give up religion altogether, secular, simply open factory, bolts and nuts, and work hard and drink and take meat… What is this civilization? What is this civilization? Therefore we are suffering. Again bhava.
Here it is said that avidya-kama-karmabhih. By ignorance, they are thinking by opening factories they will be happy. That is avidya. He does not know that this is ignorance. Why you should open factory? That is… This is called ugra-karma. There is no need of opening factory. You have got land. Here are so many lands. You produce your food grains. Annad bhavanti bhutani. You eat sumptuously food grain, milk, and that will be available without any factory. The factory cannot produce milk or food grain. The present scarcity of foodstuff means everybody is engaged in the city, producing bolts and nuts. Who is producing food grain? This is the solution of economic problem. Annad bhavanti bhutani. Therefore we are trying to engage our men to produce their own food. Be self-sufficient so that these rascals may see that how one can live very peacefully, eating the food grains and milk, and chant Hare Krsna. This is our mission.

“We are trying to give Freedom to everyone”

Prabhupada, January 11, 1977, India: Where is leisure time? You rise early in the morning and start for your office. Where is your leisure time? All imagination. I have seen in New York. They are coming from the other parts, starting early in the morning, two hours in the ferry and two hours in the cars, and standing two hours. What is this? Leaders, rich men, can think like that, that “I have leisure,” but a worker, lower class, they have no freedom. That is illusion, and we are trying to give freedom to everyone. That is freedom. You are forced to go to the factory and work there in a hellish condition of life. Is that freedom?

Ramesvara: There must be still education so the people will… Say we are one day…

“Your Dedication must be with the Sanction of God”

2010 March 9

Room Conversation with Richard Webster, chairman, Societa Filosofica Italiana

Atreya Rsi: Would God sanction activities in the factory, technological, scientific world?

Prabhupada: No, there is no sanction. These are all sinful activities.

Richard Webster: These are material activities.

Prabhupada: Yes. You have created all these things. God has not sanctioned. God has not sanctioned for running on a factory. Therefore as soon as you run on a factory, you simply commit sinful activities. In the Bhagavad-gita we don’t find any such sanction that you run on a factory, a slaughterhouse or the brothel and this business and brewery no such sanction. But you have done at your whims. Just like in the last war, Mr. Churchill sanctioned or requested everyone to go to the church. What is that “V”? Victory? Yes. And now… Before starting the war, Mr. Churchill and company did not take any sanction. And when they were in reverse condition, then, that time, they are going to the church for victory.

DNA

Prabhupada: “If life originated from chemicals, and if your science is so advanced, then why can’t you create life biochemically in your laboratories?” ……. “If scientists say that matter is the cause and origin of life, then let us ask them to bring back to life just one dead man, one great man like Professor Einstein. Let them inject some chemicals so that just one dead man may come back to life and work again. But this they cannot do.”

In April 1973, during a long morning walk at Venice Beach, in Los Angeles, Srila Prabhupada turned to the subject of modern science and scientists. With philosophical rigor, profound common sense, and disarming frankness, he exposed the narrow-mindedness and illogic behind the scientists’ commonly accepted theories about the origin of life. The students on hand included Dr. Thoudam Singh, an organic chemist, who captured the dialogue on tape. read more…

Prabhupada, July 3, 1976, Washington, D.C.: So, “If you want to acquire knowledge how these molecules are working, so you must know it is coming from Me, the direction is coming from Me.” You are waiting, wherefrom this direction is coming. Krishna says “This direction is coming from Me.” Mattah, “from Me.” Then the Absolute Truth, it is recognized.

Creation Evolution Headlines, March 7, 2010 — This quote from UC Berkeley wins Stupid Evolution Quote of the Week:

In the long evolutionary road from bacteria to humans, a major milestone occurred some 1.5 billion years ago when microbes started building closets for all their stuff, storing DNA inside a nucleus, for example, or cramming all the energy machinery inside mitochondria.

Any questions?  Science Daily repeated it without laughing.
The occasion for the comment is research on a microbe that can switch between an amoeba-like form and a flagellated form.  Naegleria gruberi, when stressed, can switch on genes that grow two flagella.  A Berkeley bioinformaticist commented that “It is a very rare process to go from amoeba to flagellate like this.”  It has two completely different modes of motility.

“We hear from those who are actually self-realized”

2010 March 8
by admin

Nectar of Devotion, Techniques of Hearing and Remembering: Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu also recommended this process of hearing as a means of self-realization in the present age of Kali. In this age it is very difficult to follow thoroughly the regulative principles and studies of the Vedas which were formerly recommended.

However, if one gives aural reception to the sound vibrated by great devotees and acaryas, that alone will give him relief from all material contamination. Therefore it is the recommendation of Caitanya Mahaprabhu that one should simply hear from authorities who are actually devotees of the Lord.

Hearing from professional men will not help. If we hear from those who are actually self-realized, then the nectarean rivers, like those which are flowing on the moon planet, will flow into our ears. This is the metaphor used in the above verse.

Over thirty years ago, people like Hridayananda and the other 11 Zonals jumped for joy at Srila Prabhupada’s disappearance, imagining that they were free at last of his authority over them and the International Society for Krsna Consciousness. Over thirty years later, Srila Prabhupada is still, however, the leader of the Krsna consciousness movement and is still telling them what to do through his books. You cannot imagine their frustration.    read more…

“Krishna’s Words are not different from Krishna”

2010 March 8
by admin

Prabhupada, Los Angeles, December 8, 1973: Sometimes some people say that “Arjuna heard directly from Krishna, but we don’t find Krishna in our presence, so how can I accept?” It is not a question of direct presence, because you have no idea of the absolute knowledge. Krishna’s words, Bhagavad-gita, is not different from Krishna. It’s not different from Krishna. When you hear Bhagavad-gita, you are directly hearing from Krishna because Krishna is not different. Krishna is absolute. Krishna, Krishna’s name, Krishna’s form, Krishna’s quality, Krishna’s instruction, everything Krishna’s, they’re all Krishna. They’re all Krishna. This has to be understood. They’re not different from Krishna. Therefore Krishna’s form here, He’s Krishna. He’s not a statue. “He’s a marble statue.” No. He’s Krishna. He has appeared before you because you cannot see Krishna. You can see stone, wood; therefore He has appeared in that form. You think that it is stone and wood, but He’s not stone and wood; He’s Krishna. This is called Absolute Truth. Similarly, Krishna’s words are also not different from Krishna. When Krishna’s words are there in the Bhagavad-gita, it’s Krishna.
