The Fragrance of the Soul | Elevation to Krishna Consciousness

Elevation to Krishna Consciousness, Ch 2 — The ambition for happiness is natural and good, but the attempt to derive it from inert matter by so-called scientific arrangements is an illusory attempt doomed to frustration. Those who are befooled cannot understand this. How a person is driven by the lust for material happiness is also described in Bhagavad-gita.

“The demoniac person thinks: ‘So much wealth do I have today, and I will gain more according to my schemes. So much is mine now, and it will increase in the future, more and more.’ ” (Bg. 16.13)

This atheistic or godless civilization is a huge affair contrived for the gratification of our senses, and now we are all mad after money in order to maintain this empty shell. Money is sought after by everyone because that is the medium of exchange for objects for sense gratification.

Human beings are a minority on this planet | Conversation with Indian Ambassador, Stockholm

MUSIC: “Govindam adi purusam” by Atmarama das

Srila Prabhupada, September 5, 1973, Stockholm — Eko bahunam yo vidadhati kaman. So God is maintaining everyone. So difference is that He is so powerful, He can maintain every living entity. He’s maintaining the elephants in Africa, who eat, at a time, forty kilos. He’s supplying food.

There’s no scarcity of food in the jungle for the elephants. Neither there is scarcity… In the hole of your room, you’ll find hundreds and thousands of ants. Who is feeding them, within the hole? Unless they’re eating, sleeping, the same thing are there. How they are living very nicely? But who is giving them food within the hole? A small hole.

You did not provide that hole. You did not provide their food. But there are hundreds and millions of ants. They’re living there within the hole very happily. Sometimes they come out. We see: “Oh, wherefrom so many hundreds coming?” So eko bahunam yo vidadhati kaman. That is God. He’s supplying food.

So there are 8,400,000 different forms of living entities. Out of that, 400,000 are human beings. Out of that, many are uncivilized. The uncivilized aborigines live in the jungle. They have no economic problem. They’re also human being. They never come to city for food. They are maintaining themselves.

WWF: Living Planet Report 2012

Mai 15, 2012 | WWF UK

Wildlife declines while we consume more

http://earthbook2012.org/
So how is the natural world coping with our ever-growing demand for resources? WWF’s Living Planet Report 2012 shows that we’re putting huge pressure on wildlife – and threatening our own future well-being.

The report, which measures the health of 9,014 populations of more than 2,600 species, reveals a 30% decline in the health of species since 1970. And it shows that we’re consuming 50% more natural resources globally than our planet can sustainably produce.

Here in the UK, we’re not making enough progress to control how much we consume. Since the last report’s country-by-country analysis in 2010, the UK’s position has worsened. We’re now the 27th largest per capita consumer.

Watch this video of WWF Ambassador and astronaut Andre Kuipers launching this year’s Living Planet Report from the International Space Station.

A Guru Or A Paid Agent | Kurma Dasa

The School Master In The Modern Days Are Paid Agents For Giving Some Information, But The Spiritual Master Is Not A Paid Agent. Nor Can He Impart Instruction Without Being Authorised.

(Srimad Bhagavatam 2.9.43)

The greater the concentration of wealth the greater the power to lord it over and manipulate others. One of the greatest sastric contradictions we find today is the concentration of wealth held by Iskcons sannyasis and gurus and Temple Managers. This wealth has been created for these men by their disciples and supporters, many going through great hardship to create the wealth for the sannyasis, who set the political agenda for the society each year at the GBC meetings.

Having such huge amounts of wealth at their disposal, allows these men to keep the apple cart up-right and to their advantage, rather than tip the apple cart over and share the apples with all the members of the society.

Spiritual life means eternity, blissful life of knowledge | Arrival Adress, Stockholm

video: TheVedicStudent

Srila Prabhupada, Stockholm, September 5, 1973: So first of all we have to understand this distinction between the spirit soul and this material body. If we can understand what is that spirit soul, then we can understand what is this spiritual movement. Otherwise, simply on material understanding, it is very difficult to understand what is spiritual life or spiritual platform.

But there is. We can simply feel like that at the present moment, but there is a spiritual world, spiritual life. And what is that spiritual life? Complete freedom. Complete freedom. Eternity, blissful and full of knowledge. That is spiritual life. Completely distinct from this bodily concept of life.

I am transcendentally proud to announce that I have recently had the pleasure of purchasing twenty cases of original edition Bhagavad-gita’s from the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust!

Each case contains twenty hardbound (wonderfully constructed) copies of the unrevised 1972 edition of Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad-gita As It Is. Cases are priced at $100.00 US, so that puts the individual copies at $5.00 US each. These books the most beautiful books in the universe! They are selling like wildfire.

My Dear Yamuna,

Please accept my blessings. I am in due receipt of your very nice letter dated 8th May, 1970, and noted the contents with interest. Thank you for your determination. For the way in which I am trying to expand I require so many sincere assistants.

So the program which you have listed for the students and your daily schedule are very nice, and your schedule is fully approved. Just see that everything–Aratrik, Bhoga offering, etc. is done strictly on time. When every moment one is engaged it is called avyarta kalatvam which means not to spoil even a single moment of life without Krsna Consciousness.

Dead Sound – Living Sound HD

Print Friendly

video credit: SacisutaDasa

“That is stated in the Srimad-Bhagavad-gita, paras tasmat tu bhavah anyah: [Bg. 8.20] “There is another bhava,” means nature, “that is sanatana nature, eternal nature.” This nature, this sky, is temporary. It has got a duration of life, maybe millions and trillions of years, but it is not permanent. It is emanating from the Supreme Lord’s breathing period. Yasyaika-nisvasita-kalam athavalambya jivanti loma-vilaja jagad-anda-nathah [Bs. 5.48]. So after this sky, there is another sky, and the sound produced from that sky is omkara and Hare Krsna mantra. This is the sound vibration from the spiritual sky. Therefore it is effective immediately. Just like you contact thousands of miles away—somebody is speaking, and you can contact by the sound vibration you catch up with your machine, radio machine—similarly, the sound vibration from the spiritual sky you can also receive. That is Hare Krsna mantra.”

Durgadevi Road
Kanpur, INDIA

My dear Mr. Nigam,

Please accept my blessings. I am in due receipt of your letter dated March 11th, 1975 and have noted the contents.

Now, I am on world tour. At present, I am staying in Perth, Australia, then in one week, I shall go to Melbourne, then Fiji, then Honolulu where I will stay for at least one month. Then I shall go to Philadelphia and San Francisco, etc.

I am very glad that you are holding some spiritual conference, but my only request is to follow the standard method of spiritual consciousness. One must know first of all, what is the spiritual basis. Anyone who is accepting this body as the self, he is no better than the cats and dogs.

Hare Krishna – Sir Ivan [HD]

video: PEACEMANMUSIC — “Sir Ivan spreads enlightenment through Bollywood with his remix of Hare Krishna. Add Ivan on Facebook!”

“Your ambition for chanting Hare Krishna exclusively is very good. But sacrificing the results of action is as good. A concrete example is Arjuna. He fought very chivalrously under the instructions of the Lord, and the Lord certified him to be the best devotee and friend of the Lord. So there is no distinction between chanting and offering the results of one’s activity. Sometimes under the garb of chanting people take to the habit of laziness, which is not required at all.”
