IRM, Back to Prabhupada – Issue 26/14: While reporting on the 40th anniversary celebrations of ISKCON in the UK for its religious radio show “Sunday”, the BBC made the following comment:
“Like many another fledgling religion, the movement was dogged by doctrinal differences and personality clashes after the death of its charismatic founder in 1977.
There were allegations of child abuse at some of its Indian schools, charges of brainwashing and accusations of financial irregularities, none of which clouded the serenity of the true believers, among whom was the former Beatle George Harrison.”
(BBC “Sunday”, November 21st, 2009)
Yet it appears that George Harrison was in fact not so serene about the state of ISKCON after Srila Prabhupada’s departure, as he revealed in a media interview with The Sunday Tribune in 1987:
“I am always a bit dubious about organisations and since the Swami died it does seem to be chaotic, with all kinds of guys thinking they’re the gurus.
To me, it’s not important to be a guru, it’s more important just to be, to learn humility.”
(George Harrison interview with BP Fallon, The Sunday Tribune, October 18th, 1987)
Hence, even George understood there was a mad rush to become guru, which has currently seen well over 100 individuals putting themselves forward “thinking they’re the gurus”, rather than becoming humble.
Humility means to surrender to the order of the spiritual master, sacrificing one’s own desires. Yet, as documented, these individuals sought to become guru not via any order from Srila Prabhupada, but via getting admittance into the GBC guru club by receiving the necessary number of votes, or being self-appointed.
STARRISE
Remember the time 1987, everybody is still in the shocking mood
of great guru hoax, the 12 great pseudo acaryas are still in power
and everybody who is not, a yes men, of the funtastic 12, got kickt out.
Its the year Chernobil in Ukraina plasted and nuclair poison went
all over europe. Its the year everything changed, some unrest inside
the devotee comunity started, gurus fall, the call for back to Prabhupada
is on the horizon, iskcon trembels 10 years after Srila Prabhupada left.
And only one person brings the hole trubble down in few words
Sriman George Harrison….
” it’s more importand to be,
and to learn more humility.! ”
And all kinds of guys whant to be guru, trying to be guru,
but are not even real gentlemen.
But Srila Prabhupada said, first you have to be a gentlemen,
only than, you can, be a arya, what to speak of a acarya,
ore even a good and pure devotee of Lord Hari.
First to be a gentlemen and than you can become a harijan.
Thats the way god planted it…..
Thats the way Srila Prabhupada wanted it.
Sir George undestood it, but the gurus of iskcon
did not andestand, ore dit not want to andestand.
Thats the question, they are only only stupid,
ore they are even dangers and are missleading
the mission of Srila Prabhupada.?
” Isn’t it a pity, isn’t it a shame
how we break each other’s hearts
and cause each other pain….. ”
George Harrison is something forever
If only the GBC and the 11 ritviks had been able to remain humble and follow Srila Prabhupada’s July 9th directive, then Sriman George Harrison might not have felt so alienated from ISKCON.
pamho agtsp in my country they say when there is not the cat around the mouse start dancing this is what’s happen when srila prabhupada left all the mouses start the own business without any consideration for humility first of all we need to become perfect then we can become humble in spreading the message of krsna consciousness george harrison is been initiate by srila prabhupada through the ritivik he were not stupid he could see because he got the mercy of acbsp who open his eyes by give him real knowledge, the voltures fly vey high in the sky the got very good sight and eyes but the goal of their lives is a dead body so are these so called puffed up guru they are very proud of their positions without any humility they don’t care that our beloved acarya been murdered they just keep going never know may they will find a good dead body as voltures my pranam ys seva das
Gokulananda Prabhu: One devotee was telling Srila Prabhupada that many devotees, especially the big devotees, were coming where Prabhupada was for the Ratha-yatra. “Big devotees?†Srila Prabhupada replied, with surprise, “We are trying to become small devotees.â€
