Hare Krishna to All Krishna Bhaktas
Obeisances
All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Giri Raj–

Well Prabhus–we had , by Lord Damodara’s mercy. Another very blissful festival here – as all who attended will happily admit.
Some devotees from Vancouver attended as well as most of the local devotees.
As you will see from the pictures below, the temple room was nicely decorated with opulent garden squash, bunched corn stalks as an entrance into the temple room, lots of our local garden flowers, and fall colored leaves, and Giri raj was offered a mountain of halava, couscous, a tomato cake, sweet rice, pusphan rice, squash pakoras, a dish of tamarind topped koffta caserole, dried fruits, nuts and much more brought by other devotees.

Lots of devotees got to lead a kirtan or two as the devotees at varied times circumnambulated the Mountain
of Bliss. Gradually more devotees showed up and the program of chanting continued in full swing.

We read from Krishna Book the story of the devastating rainful and also referenced Padmalocans book called Madhurya Dhama (A Guide to Govardhana). In this nectarean book he gives information from Kavi Kanapuras book Ananda Vrndavana Champu about what happened to the residents of Brajabhumi during the 7 days of rainfall and how they all partied merrily inside, experiencing no discomfort at all, while Indra was trying to drown them all out.

Lord Giriraj arranged for all sorts of houses, beds, clothing, food, as well as grass and water for the cows. It was desribed as a valley beneath this great mountain where the steps were all jewels, and everything glistened. It also describes how the demigods afterwards worshipped Lord Krishna with wonderful gifts they all brought, all sorts of nature divinities attended and gave their gifts, and all offered suitable prayers, abhisek, etc – and yet Krishna was only thinking, while all this was going on, about how he could get this demigod worship business over with and quickly return to His cowherd friends who were off chasing the calves and cows.

In the prayer Damodarastakam it explains that one thing Krishna taught was that opulent worship does not please Him as much as the simple and very pure loving affections shown by the residents of Vrndavana.
