“Further Thoughts on the Direction of Management”

BY: NARA NARAYAN DASA VISHWAKARMA

Dec 21, 2010 — LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (SUN) — The following is a response to the extraordinary and excellent legal distinctions raised by the most senior Prabhupada disciple and attorney, Mrigendra das, in his recent article, “Direction of Management Documents“. We thank him for having written as he did, as this gave us the window of opportunity to respond to the legal issues of the Direction of Management as we have.

The Direction of Management is not and never has been intended to be a legal document to be prosecuted through the court system. The very nature and purpose of the Direction of Management is revealed in Srila Prabhupada’s Own Words, and “my beloved disciples will kindly accept them”. Srila Prabhupada selected His Words carefully due to the fact that He Himself knew quite clearly that the DOM was not and could not be a legal document that could not be upheld in a court of law.

The Direction of Management created by Lord Krishna Himself, and delivered to us through the transparent via medium of Srila Prabhupada, was and is meant to be upheld in the hearts of His “beloved disciples” who accept this Directive out of Love, not legal force or legal obligation.

It is clear that spiritual life, as practiced by Lord Caitanya and handed down through our Sampradaya since that time, is not based on legalism, nor are any of the loving exchanges between disciple and guru and guru and disciple, meant to be legally enforced, or are in any way legally enforceable.

The recent ISKCON bylaws are a clear example of an attempt by atheist aparadhis to control money, lives, and sacred texts that rightfully belong not only to Lord Krishna Himself, to our unbreakable line of disciplic succession, but to the seven billion human inhabitants of planet earth, for whom this was all intended. Creating an “ultimate ecclesiastical authority” is non-different than an attempt to put a tap on the unlimited Mercy of Krishna as well as a taxi meter, so that every mantra must be bought and paid for.

Such demoniac and atheistic attempts will fail, and have already failed, in that the faith (sraddha) of the members of the ISKCON Movement is becoming ever mechanised and lower.

When the devotees of the Krishna Consciousness Movement and those who richly support this Movement come to their senses, they will, to a man, reach out without asking permission from the “ultimate ecclesiastical authority”, or to those who have been placed as bishops in the temples to control and monitor the “inmates”.

But they will take what is rightly theirs, and there will be no court of law in the world, what to speak of the United States, that will be able to prevent them from exercising their truly God given right to self-representation and spiritual autonomy, as expressed through the Direction of Management, a system of management to which even the Gopis and other residents of Krishnaloka adhere by their multi-layered support of the pastimes of Lalita and Vishakha, who represent Their Bhakti as well as Their own.

Please read the compilations present in the DOM website. There is more than sufficient information contained therein to produce a revolution of love within the hearts of those who have pinned their destinies and futures to the Lotus Feet of Srila Prabhupada.

The present hideous tyranny conceived by the few to exert absolute control over the many will quickly come to an end. There is not nor has there ever been in the history of ISKCON a mandate given by the Founder-Acarya His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada that the GBC should perpetually exist, generating a longer and longer criminal history of child abuse, murder, etc., and be freed from elections as clearly ordered by Srila Prabhupada in not only the Direction of Management, but in the 1974 Topmost Urgency Letter.

The careful, open-hearted and open-minded study of the DOM website and the literatures and histories contained therein by eyes smeared with the salve of “Pure unalloyed Love of God”, will reveal a Truth that will render cynical and even venomous approaches to any court of law completely and utterly unnecessary.

By creating an ecclesiastical hierarchy, the GBC have reason to believe that they have become impervious to any kind of legal action from without. But what such manipulative tyrannists such as Kamsa, Ravana, and Hiranyakasipu always fail to understand is that their destruction will come from within, not from without. Once the ultra intelligent, highly educated, acute, systems and business oriented, pious Indian supporters of our ISKCON Movement have had their eyes “forced open with the torchlight of knowledge”, they will make mincemeat of the unelected GBC despots in short order.

We thank Mrigendra Prabhu for his excellent and conclusive analysis of how the Direction of Management (or even Srila Prabhupada’s Last Will and Testament) cannot be enforced in any court of law. But if we examine the history of the Christian Bible, we find that it is also not in the least legally enforceable, and yet many Christians consider the Bible to be higher in authority than the highest court in the land. That is not due to their considering that the Bible is a legal document to be enforced in a court of law, but that their love, cultivated through the mood of their Christian faith, transcends any love that the human mind or legal officer could make.

That is why the Direction of Management will be easily, comfortably, and painlessly accepted in all of ISKCON, within the next few years.

Love (in our case, Bhakti) cannot be defeated or even addressed in a court of law. The Will of God (including the DOM) is not to be trifled with, now or at any other time. The conch shells are blowing with a keen vibration to shatter the hearts of those who oppose Srila Prabhupada and His Intent for the people of this world.

We pray with straw in mouth that those who have, or at least once had, faith in Srila Prabhupada’s Words as the Supreme Absolute Truth will hearken and drag His beloved ISKCON Movement back from the brink of utter disaster.

Your eternal servant,
Nara Narayan dasa Vishwakarma
