Sir Paul McCartney – Hindus Support McCartney In Indian Vegetarian Day Bid

Posted 05 January 2011 08:12 — SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY has won the support of the world’s leading Hindu organisation as he attempts to turn India vegetarian for a day.

In a letter to the nation’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the former Beatle, a devout non-meat eater, urged him to declare a day for vegetarianism in a bid to save animals.

And Hindus are backing McCartney.

Statesman Rajan Zed, who represents the Universal Society of Hinduism, tells WENN, “We, as Hindus, promote strict vegetarianism insisting on not harming living creatures and renouncing animal slaughter and meat eating.

“Eating less meat would help the environment and more celebrities should come out in support of staying away from meat, thus contributing to a healthier world.”
