Am I a demon or a Vaishnava?
Please compare the following statements:
“So Swamiji has at first cleared the atmosphere. Prepared the ground…by preaching name and the sandesh of Gita…. he prepared. So very important work … so he has done this task and it was so necessary for that world…for all world…he has done but he has not done everything by doing that. It was only basement. […] But…we are deprived of that… he could not complete his work.”
(Lecture, September 19th, 1994)
“Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada said, “Everything is in my books.” He has given everything, but it is in seed form. He has only given a hint. Now you have to dive deeper and deeper, to the deepest region, then you will collect the invaluable gems that are there. Prabhupada’s purports need explanation.”

The person who spoke the first statement is demonised by ISKCON’s GBC leadership as:
“…a crooked and talented pretender or impostor, who has seduced, beguiled and misled many people:’
(Ravindra Svarupa Das, Taking Srila Prabhupada Straight, 1998).
The person who published the second statement, and is preaching the same philosophy – that Srila Prabhupada has only given an incomplete presentation of Krishna consciousness – is in the meantime glorified by the GBC as:
“a great devotee of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Srila Prabhupada”
And that his:
“disappearance day be observed on the ISKCON GBC and BBT Calendar every year’
(GBC Resolution 704, 1996)
The speaker of the first statement is HH Narayana Maharaja (“NM”) of the Gaudiya Matha, while the second statement is from ISKCON guru HH Gour Govinda Swami who, as noted above, is to be worshipped on his disappearance day every year by the entire ISKCON movement.
Ironically, the same GBC member who demonised NM had, only a few years earlier gloified him all over ISKCON:
“Narayana Maharaja is a well-wisher of ISKCON and its devotees, and his judgement and discrimination are held in high regard.
(Ravindra Svarupa Das, ISKCON Journal, 1990).
The having removed Srila Prabhupada as the bona fide diksa (initiating) Guru for ISKCON, the GBC clearly have no compunction in either promoting their “gurus” and “well-wishers” as great Vaisnavas, or condemning them as great demons, even when the are preaching the same anti Prabhupada philosophy – whatever the GBC decides is expedient at that time to keep their unauthorized guru business afloat. This is in stark contrast to the IRM. Since our beginning we have only preached one, unchanging line of guru-tattva philosophy:
Srila Prabhupada is the real guru accept no substitutes.
