A true devotee is the friend of all living entities

Not that you protect yourself from all danger and you cut the throat of the poor animals on the plea that it has no soul. This is not education.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 6.1.22
by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
Honolulu, May 22, 1976

If anyone wants to save the planet, all they have to do is just stop eating meat. That’s the single most important thing you can do. It’s staggering when you think about it. Vegetarianism takes care of so many things in one shot: ecology, famine, cruelty.

  1. abhaya carana seva das says:

    pamho agtACBSP,

    who is a real devotee?

A real devotee always presents quote from sastra and backs up everything he says on sastrical reference.

In the parampara system, the instructions taken from the bona fide spiritual master must also be based on revealed Vedic scriptures. One who is in the line of disciplic succession cannot manufacture his own way of behavior.

There are many so-called followers of the Vaishnava cult in the line of Caitanya Mahaprabhu who do not scrupulously follow the conclusions of the sastras, and therefore they are considered to be apa-sampradaya, which means “outside of the sampradaya.”

So many lives have been already spent in forgetfulness of our real spiritual consciousness and this short life also will be forgotten unless we revive our original spiritual identity.

The living entity forgets his identity when he comes in contact with material nature and becomes conditioned. At such a time he identifies himself as a product of the material nature.

When life after life of forgetfulness one understands how important it is to become Krsna conscious which is the only way to become friend to all living entities, Krsna helps us from within to make further advancement.

Krsna manifests Himself again externally as spiritual master, directly teaching. So from within, from without, He is trying to help us. Krsna is so kind.

The attraction for material things is certainly due to illusion. There is no value in attraction to material things, for the conditioned soul is diverted by them. One’s life is successful if he is absorbed in the attraction of Krsna’s strength, beauty and pastimes as described in the Tenth Canto of Srimad-Bhagavatam.

    SRILA PRABHUPADA used to say:

The devotee, thus protected all around, is sure to reach the ultimate destination of perfection. The entire process is hinted at in this mantra, and Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.2.17-20) explains it further:
Hearing and chanting the glories of the Lord is itself an act of piety. The Lord wants everyone to hear and chant His glories because He is the well-wisher of all living entities. By hearing and chanting the glories of the Lord, one becomes cleansed of all undesirable things, and then one’s devotion becomes fixed upon the Lord. (Sri Isopanisad, Mantra Eighteen)
