Lakshmi Shankar was a Hindustani classical vocalist of the Patiala Gharana. She was known for her performances of khyal, thumri, and bhajans.
Krishna-kripa das: In Amsterdam, Dhananjaya Prabhu told us that one time Srila Prabhupada, although he wasn’t feeling well, agreed to see George Harrison, who had a recording which he wanted Srila Prabhupada to hear. The song was entitled “Krishna, Where are You?” George had written the lyrics and arranged the music, and Ravi Shankar’s sister, Laksmi, was the singer. Prabhupada said it was in the mood of the Goswamis, and that if George Harrison continued writing songs like that he would quickly advance in spiritual life.

thanks for sharing this beautiful song, i have never heard it before. George Harrison was a very advanced soul. All glories to Srila Prabupada !!
George Harrison did not compose this song, nor did he write the lyrics. The song was written (and composed) by Ravi Shankar while he was on a plane, in transit. George however did arrange and produce the recording in the famous ‘Phil Spector’ (wall of sound) style as he was very fond of the song.
There are many famous and talented musicians that play instruments on this also, such as Ringo Starr, Klaus Voormann, Nicky Hopkins, Jim Keltner and Billy Preston. All these guys (accept I think Nicky Hopkins) played at the ‘Concert for George’ a year after George left this mortal world several years ago.
