MY POEM FOR EKADASI

O my dear Lord Krishna
O Supreme and absolute truth
I’m not qualified to pray to You
but all I have is You Dear Boy Blue.

And so my dear Lord of the Gopis
though my heart is harder than stone
by Thy causeless mercy fly me home
for I’m yours and frightened all alone.

Here I’m all tied up in a ditch
with no way at all to get free
all shackled by Maya I’m bewitched
so all I can do is pray and plead.

O my dear Madhusadana
I’m blinded by darkest karma
I can’t even see what is my dharma
am I your warrior, brahman or farmer.

O my dear Lord Damodara
captured by Thy mother’s love
and all the residents of Vrindavana
O One all life is part and parcel of.

Now honesty is all I have left
by Maya’s powerful wind I’ve been swept
to be a absent minded dumb founded fool
so its impossible to be Thy Servant’s tool.

Now all I can do is write You poems
and go out by myself to sing on Harinama
only by Thy causeless grace on me Lord Haree
please wake up my love for You O Bhagavana.

I must hear Thy all powerful holy names
but alas my heart must be steel framed
so I can’t hear them and cry with tears of love
and my hairs stand on end for You O every life’s Love.

I feel like braking my head against the wall
so far away from Thy Servants I did fall
I must join Prabhupada’s party again
and completely cooperate for You with them.

For life is not life if I’m not preaching
so I pray someone hear my desperate call
is there anyone here I am reaching
I pray bring him here my dear Lord Gopala.

I must hear Thy holy names
and know You and Thy names are the same
melt my heart steel framed unlock all these chains
so in thy service with love I’m 24 hours engaged.

      Ram Prabhu,
All Glories to His Divine Grace Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada!

      Hare Krsna!

To realize Brahman one has to become a Brahmana by QUALIFICATION.

Bg 2.2 P Contents of the Gita Summarized
Krsna and the Supreme Personality of Godhead are identical. Therefore Lord Krsna is referred to as “Bhagavan” throughout the Gita. Bhagavan is the ultimate in the Absolute Truth. ABSOLUTE TRUTH IS REALIZED IN THREE PHASES OF UNDERSTANDING, NAMELY BRAHMAN OR THE IMPERSONAL ALL-PERVASIVE SPIRIT; PARAMATMA, OR THE LOCALIZED ASPECT OF THE SUPREME WITHIN THE HEART OF ALL LIVING ENTITIES; AND BHAGAVAN, OR THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD, LORD KRSNA. In the Srimad-Bhagavatam this conception of the Absolute Truth is explained thus:

vadanti tat tattva-vidas tattvam yaj jnanam advayam
      brahmeti paramatmeti bhagavan iti sabdyate

“The Absolute Truth is realized in three phases of understanding by the knower of the Absolute Truth, and all of them are identical. Such phases of the Absolute Truth are expressed as Brahman, Paramatma, and Bhagavan.” (Bhag. 1.2.11) These three divine aspects can be explained by the example of the sun, which also has three different aspects, namely the sunshine, the sun’s surface and the sun planet itself. One who studies the sunshine only is the preliminary student. One who understands the sun’s surface is further advanced. And one who can enter into the sun planet is the highest. Ordinary students who are satisfied by simply understanding the sunshine–its universal pervasiveness and the glaring effulgence of its impersonal nature–may be compared to those who can realize only the Brahman feature of the Absolute Truth. The student who has advanced still further can know the sun disc, which is compared to knowledge of the Paramatma feature of the Absolute Truth. And the student who can enter into the heart of the sun planet is compared to those who realize the personal features of the Supreme Absolute Truth. Therefore, the bhaktas, or the transcendentalists who have realized the Bhagavan feature of the Absolute Truth, are the topmost transcendentalists, although all students who are engaged in the study of the Absolute Truth are engaged in the same subject matter. The sunshine, the sun disc and the inner affairs of the sun planet cannot be separated from one another, and yet the students of the three different phases are not in the same category.
The Sanskrit word bhagavan is explained by the great authority, Parasara Muni, the father of Vyasadeva. The Supreme Personality who possesses all riches, all strength, all fame, all beauty, all knowledge and all renunciation is called Bhagavan. There are many persons who are very rich, very powerful, very beautiful, very famous, very learned, and very much detached, but no one can claim that he possesses all riches, all strength, etc., entirely. Only Krsna can claim this because He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. No living entity, including Brahma, Lord Siva, or Narayana, can possess opulences as fully as Krsna. Therefore it is concluded in the Brahma-samhita by Lord Brahma himself that Lord Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. No one is equal to or above Him. He is the primeval Lord, or Bhagavan, known as Govinda, and He is the supreme cause of all causes.

      isvarah paramah krsnah sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah
      anadir adir govindah sarva-karana-karanam

“There are many personalities possessing the qualities of Bhagavan, but Krsna is the supreme because none can excel Him. He is the Supreme Person, and His body is eternal, full of knowledge and bliss. He is the primeval Lord Govinda and the cause of all causes.” (Brahma-samhita 5.1)

In the Bhagavatam also there is a list of many incarnations of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, but Krsna is described as the original Personality of Godhead, from whom many, many incarnations and Personalities of Godhead expand:

ete camsa-kalah pumsah krsnas tu bhagavan svayam
      indrari-vyakulam lokam mrdayanti yuge yuge

“All the lists of the incarnations of Godhead submitted herewith are either plenary expansions or parts of the plenary expansions of the Supreme Godhead, but Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself.” (Bhag. 1.3.28)
Therefore, Krsna is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Absolute Truth, the source of both the Supersoul and the impersonal Brahman.

Miser means, another sense of miser is one who cannot utilize money properly. Suppose one has got one million dollars from his father, but he is simply thinking that “I shall see the money and I shall not utilize it. If I go to utilize, I may lose it. Better I will see every day in my treasury box.” He’s also miser. Similarly, this human form of life, simply used for the sense gratification, is miser. He cannot utilize this form of body for increasing the asset of Krsna consciousness. Therefore he is miser. And one who is properly utilizing this valuable life for understanding Krsna, he is brahmana. Brahma janati iti brahmana. BRAHMANA MEANS ONE WHO KNOWS THE SUPREME ABSOLUTE TRUTH. HE IS CALLED BRAHMANA. The sacred thread is offered to a person who knows Krsna. Otherwise it is not awarded. This is a symbolic representation. This man has got sacred thread, that means he knows Krsna, Brahman, Supreme Brahman. Just like Arjuna, param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam bhavan. In the Tenth Chapter you’ll find. Arjuna says that “You are param brahma. Krsna, You are param brahma.” Similarly, if anyone knows Brahman, Parabrahman, Krsna, he is brahmana. BRAHMA JANATI ITI BRAHMANA. ONE WHO KNOWS THE SUPREME BRAHMAN, KRSNA, HE IS BRAHMANA. NOT A PERSON WHO IS BORN IN THE FAMILY OF A BRAHMANA. He may be a candala by his mentality.
So Bhagavata says, yasya yal laksanam proktam pumso varnabhivyanjakam. There are symptoms. You’ll find all these in Bhagavad-gita, who is brahmana, who is ksatriya, who is vaisya, who is sudra. By symptoms, by characteristics, you’ll know. Similarly, if you find a man knows Krsna, you must accept him: “He is a brahmana.” He’s a brahmana. Brahma janati iti brahmana.

And what are the divisions? Now, what are the guna and karma? The guna, the quality. There are three qualities. In the material world, there are three qualities: the quality of goodness, the quality of passion, and the quality of ignorance. And either human being or animal or demigods or American or Indian, everywhere these qualities are working. So some of them are in the modes or quality of goodness, and some of them are in the quality of passion, and some of them are in the quality of ignorance. Those who are in the quality of goodness, they are called brahmanas, or the intelligent class of men. In Sanskrit language, because intelligence, intelligence does not mean to know, to have some knowledge of the material things. Intelligence means to know about the spiritual world also. That is intelligence.
Because as you know that I am combination of matter and spirit… I am spirit, and I am now entangled in this material body. I am spirit, consciousness. As soon as I am out of this body, I can distinguish or… I cannot distinguish because I will go away. You can distinguish that “Now this real Swamiji’s spirit is gone; the Swamiji’s material body is here.” So it is very plain thing. Therefore we should not only have perfect knowledge of this matter, but we should have perfect knowledge of the spirit also, if we are actually intelligent. Therefore the brahmanas… Why they are called brahmanas? Brahma janati iti brahmanah. Brahmin, it is English transcription. But real word is brahmana, brahmana. And wherefrom this brahmana word comes? BRAHMA JANATI ITI BRAHMANAH. THAT MEANS ONE WHO KNOWS THE SPIRIT, THE SPIRITUAL. ONE WHO HAS GOT COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SPIRITUAL WORLD, HE IS CALLED BRAHMANA.
How one becomes brahmana? Now you will find distinctly that catur-varnyam maya srstam guna-karma-vibhagasah: “The four divisions of qualitative divisions is set by Me according to quality and karma.” Never says, “according to birth,” you will find. “According to birth,” it is not said here. Although in India it is now misrepresentated that a brahmana’s son is trying to designate himself as brahmana, but according to Bhagavad-gita, that is not sanctioned. Bhagavad-gita says, “according to quality.”
Now, just like here is a qualified lawyer, Mr. Goldsmith. He is lawyer. Now, because he is lawyer, his son cannot claim that “Because my father is lawyer, then I am also lawyer.” How he can become? The son also must be qualified lawyer. He must pass the bachelor of law degree, examination. Then he can be lawyer. So similarly, here Krsna says… Don’t misunderstand the Indian caste system as hereditary. No. It is, according to Vedic literature, it is according to the quality.
And what is that quality? Janmana jayate sudrah. Janmana jayate sudrah: “Anyone who takes his birth, by his birth he’s a sudra.” Sudra means the lowest, in the lowest order. Everyone. Even if he is born in the family of a brahmana, he is to be considered as a sudra, janmana, by birth. And perhaps some of you know that the brahmanas, the ksatriyas and the vaisyas, they are called dvija. Dvi means twice, and ja means birth. Twice-born. Twice-born.
