Devotee: Extravagant waste of money. But his disciples don’t mind paying for the thrill. Meanwhile disciples of team B ISKCON gurus are planning how to spend more.

Devotee: And the GBC canvases all of us rank and file non-entities to purchase a “brick” for the TOVP. O wonder how many bricks were spent on helicopter Lila?

The analysis

If disciples of various gurus are competing which guru will have a bigger helicopter, then we have missed the point of Krishna consciousness. But it is very hard to understand the motivations behind actions.

Bhakti Caru Swami has a lot of disciples, some of them are rich obviously, so if they want to pay for the helicopter, that is their right. It’s a free world.

Srila Prabhupada disciples also rented Rolls-Royce car to greet Prabhupada. So, disciples are free to spend money to glorify their guru.

Question of priority

The only hypocrisy I see here is the following. Disciples are willing to finance helicopter lila, but when people need to come to the temple to listen about Krishna consciousness, then they have to pay money for it. I find this to be hypocritical.

So, although this program is located in ISKCON temple, although it is happening in India, where ISKCON get’s a lot of donation, although it is meant for young people who generally don’t have a lot of money, still you have to pay to listen to Krishna katha in ISKCON temple.

Well, if Bhakti Charu Swami saves some money on the helicopter lila, he could organise many programs such as this one without “registration fees”.

Additionally, I don’t see a photo of Srila Prabhupada and his name mentioned anywhere.

The speaker should be mentioned as “A disciple of his Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada”, but instead, it says “International motivational speaker”.

Conclusion

Bhakti Charu Swami lost orientation of who he is and who is he supposed to be. He also lost overview of priorities of where money should be spent. If you want to be safe, select a guru who is proud the be a disciple of Srila Prabhupada. Don’t select gurus who are trying to hide that they are disciple of Srila Prabhupada. Don’t select gurus who have money for helicopter lila but in the same time charge poor students to give them spiritual knowledge.
