TEST BY THE SUPREME LORD

Choṭa Haridāsa used to sing for Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu

TEST BY THE SUPREME LORD
(Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, Krishnanagar, March 11 1918)

“Sri Gauracandra tests us in various ways by putting us into difficulties and different kinds of association. It depends on the good fortune of the living entities for them to pass those tests. As the indwelling Supersoul, Sri Gaurahari has revealed the eternal truth in the hearts of the living entities out of His causeless mercy. Those who have taken shelter at the lotus feet of the Lord Hari and the spiritual master never trust the illusory words of misguided people. Only unfortunate people become bewildered by hearing deceitful words. One need not worry about that.”

Always read Sri Caitanya Caritamrta and hear its unbiased explanation from Vaisnavas who know its actual meaning. Our only hope is Mahaprabhu’s lotus feet.

Note: that picture with wings was not accurate:

Yamunā: (indistinct) angels in the (indistinct) different angels?
Prabhupāda: So the angels… The Siddhaloka is not in the spiritual world. It is in the material world. But they are highly qualified. But that Siddhaloka is not in the spiritual world. That is within the material world.
Devotee (1): You said that the pictures they draw of the men with wings, that is not bona fide pictures?
Prabhupāda: No. The statement in the Vedic literature—that they can fly. Now one can draw some picture, because they have idea that without wings how one can fly? That may be. That is their idea. But Nārada can fly everywhere. He has no wings. He can travel both in the spiritual and material world, but he has no wings.
Mālatī: Is it true he has the same body in the spiritual world and when he comes into the material world?
Prabhupāda: Yes, it is Nārada’s facility. He has got the benediction that he can travel anywhere, without any restriction. Even some of the yogis… Durvāsā Muni, he also went to the spiritual world, saw Lord Viṣṇu. And Arjuna also went to the spiritual world with Kṛṣṇa. So, not that this material body cannot be transformed into spiritual body by the supreme will of the Lord. Anything can be changed. We think that this is stereotyped; it cannot be transformed. No. That’s not the fact. By the supreme will, anything can be changed into anything.
Revatīnandana: I have a question. One of my prabhus told me that you once said that your Guru Mahārāja said that Jesus Christ was a śaktyāveśāvatāra. Is that correct?
Prabhupāda: Yes. Because he said it, it must be correct. Muhammad also, śaktyāveśāvatāra. Śaktyāveśāvatāra means a living entity is especially empowered to preach the glories of the Lord. Lord Buddha is also śaktyāveśāvatāra. They are not ordinary human being. They are especially empowered personalities.

Prabhupāda: And nature supplies the body, that’s all. Simple thing.
Rāmeśvara: But they do not put a limit, 8,400,000. They think that it can keep going on increasing, increasing.
Prabhupāda: Then let it go on. That’s all right. What is wrong?
Candanācārya: By their theory, though, a human being would be able to generate wings or a beak like a bird.
Prabhupāda: Yes, there are human beings who can fly in the sky. Siddhaloka, Siddhaloka. There is a planet called Siddhaloka. There the human beings from one planet to another go.
    Hari-śauri: They have wings?
    Prabhupāda: No wings.
    Rāmeśvara: The Gandharvas have wings.
Candanācārya: Why do you need wings if you can fly? Also Garuḍa has a beak. Where are we going now?

Puṣṭa Kṛṣṇa: In our planetarium, Śrīla Prabhupāda, we want to actually show the different qualities of life on the different planetary systems also?
Prabhupāda: Yes, as far as possible. There is Siddhaloka, they can go from one planet to another without any machine, without any vehicle. Siddhaloka means, just like the yogis, they can go.
Rāmeśvara: Their body have…, they have wings?
Prabhupāda: No wings. We think only our ideas, that without wings nobody can fly.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: That picture wasn’t accurate.
    Rāmeśvara: That was Gandharvaloka.
Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Prabhupāda said they don’t have wings either.
    Rāmeśvara: I know.

    • Why some body did put the wings on the celestial Being as depicted in the picture ?

Is that Picture authorized in the Scripture ?

Is it not misleading and confusing as to what Srila Prabhupada says during His conversations quoted by Mahesh Prabhu in his comments ?

      Hope some body clarifies it.

Hare Krishna. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.

      • Mahesh Raja says:

Amar Puri: Why some body did put the wings on the celestial Being as depicted in the picture ?

Mahesh: When Caitanya Caritamrta was being done – they did it real fast. The person who did that painting obviously was from the Christian values background and—- as you see many old Christian paintings you will notice they paint wings on angles. Robes worn in the painting ALSO appear like old Christian painting.

        • Amar Puri says:

Mahesh Prabhu, Granted that some body did it real fast while Caitanya Caritamrta was being done and perhaps, it went unnoticed by HDG. Srila Prabhupada.

Is that the Paitning in the picture still there in the Caitanya Caritamrta ?

If it is there, then, it should not be displayed because it is not what HDG. Srila Prabhupada describes in the quoted comments by Mahesh Prabhu.

Therefore, it is misleading and confusing as to what Srila Prabhupada describes in the quoted comments by your goodself Mahesh Prabhu.

That is why I bring it up for further clarification.

Thank you as usual for your kind explanation.

Hare Krishna. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.

  2. Mahesh Raja says:

Amar Puri: that the Paitning in the picture still there in the Caitanya Caritamrta ?

Mahesh: the painting is there – however since all the quotes are there now to explain the situation it does not matter. It is WORTH getting these ORIGINAL versions—————- while you can:

Thanks for your kind explanation as usual, Mahesh Prabhu.

Hare Krishna. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.
