Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a giant Bhagavad Gita, weighing 800 kg and running into 670 pages, at the ISKCON temple in New Delhi on Tuesday, 26 Feb 2019. The sacred book is 2.8 metre tall and 2 metre wide (when closed).

ISKCON has stated that the ‘Astounding Bhagavad Gita’ is the largest principle sacred text ever to be printed. The book has been printed in Milan, Italy on YUPO synthetic paper with an artistic touch of 18 exquisite paintings and an innovative elegant layout.

The YUPO synthetic paper has been used to make it untearable and waterproof, said the official release. 700 original Sanskrit verses along with the commentary of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (ISKCON’s Founder-Acharya) have been covered in the 670 pages of the Astounding Bhagavad Gita, for a total of one acre of printed matter.
