The personal story of Krsna Katha das and iskcons corrupt bogus guru system

Dear Prabhus,

My respectful obeisances.

All Glories to Srila Prabhupada 🙏

Thank you for sharing the obvious truth regarding our Spiritual Master’s pure and perfect international society for Krishna Consciousness. It was, and still is, poisoned by the agents of Kali. Tamal left his body in a way befitting to his choices during and after Srila Prabhupada’s manifested presence.

My direct experience coming to surrender to Srila Prabupada is worth a review, as it relates to the power grab perpetrated by Tamal.

In 1978 I was fresh out of college and decided to travel to the Big Island of Hawaii.

After wandering around for about six months, I was out of money, out of food. All I had was a return plane ticket back to Los Angeles. While at the Hilo airport, I was approached by a devotee named Maduha dasa. He gave me a book titled Sri Isopanisad. My flight was in 3 hours and I read the entire book twice. I was enthralled. I wanted to know, who is this A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada?

Maduha returned before my flight and invited me to live on a farm for a few weeks and there are more books to read. I accepted. I met the senior devotee and disciple of Srila Prabhupada named Guarsundara Prabhu. I studied Srila Prabhupada’s books under the guidance of Gaurasundara Prabhu for 1.5 years as a celibate student. As things in this world go, the farm lease was not renewed and I flew back to Los Angeles. My takeaway from my experience at the Hawaii farm are many. Most significantly, is that Srila Prabhupada is my spiritual master. Gaurasundara enlightened all of us the true purport of guru tattva.

Now in L.A. New Dwarka, I’m an aspiring bhakta, serving Maduha and Caru Prabhu’s on the traveling festival preaching program. After about six months, Maduha speaks to me about taking initiation from Srila Prabhupada. He said that Ramesvara is not following the zonal acarya concoction and will be giving initiations on behalf of Srila Prabupada. Maduha said that I will become an initiated disciple of Srila Prabhupada. How could I say anything but YES! What oceans of mercy have been bestowed upon me.

Maduha went on to say that this is a rare opportunity because the other “questionable gurus”, his words precisely, are giving initiations on their own behalf, not as Srila Prabhupada instructed them to His representative. A week later became the day of the initiation ceremony.

It’s important to describe this seemingly not important detail I want to share with you. The course of my devotional life and Ramesvara’s life is significantly altered in these next set of events.

The scene inside the Temple is set, the fire sacrifice is assembled. Their Lordships Rukmini Dwarkadisha are beautifully dressed as always. We are truly blessed with their darshana. The bhakta’s and bhaktin’s are sitting around the fire sacrifice ready for Ramesvara to begin speaking into the microphone.

For no less than two minutes, Ramesvara sat silently, eyes closed. His face was strained and his head swayed side to side, struggling with beginning to speak. Two minutes is a long time and it became a bit awkward.

I’m paraphrasing with verified accuracy from other devotees that bore witness that day and finally, he said these words:

“actually I’m not qualified to give all of you HariNama diksa initiation. My spiritual master, there’s a pause, and Ramevara turns his head to look at Srila Prabhupada seated on His Vyasasana, has somehow or other given me the service of initiating all of you on His behalf. You will all be disciples of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada.

Instantly there was a huge roar of ectatic JAYA JAYA JAYA, drums beating and even clapping.

Now fast forward two weeks. Ramesvara disappears for two days.

He returns to New Dwarka totally distraught and visibly upset. Mother Govinda dasi, yes the original one and only, meets with Ramesvara in his quarters. Govinda dasi witnesses Ramesvara crying uncontrollably. He shares with her that Tamal summoned him to Dallas. Ramesvara arrived at the Dallas Temple to Tamals office, where he was directed by Tamal to read a pre-written letter articulating Ramesvara’s resignation and expulsion from Iskcon. Tamal ordered him to go back to New Dwarka and announce to the recent group of initiates that they are not Srila Prabhupada disciples, they are your disciples. If you don’t do this, then sign this letter and you are kicked out of Iskcon.

Ramesvara did not sign the letter. He returned to New Dwarka. A few days later a “vyasasana” was placed next to Srila Prabhupada in the Temple. Kusakratha Prabhu authored prayers for all of us to sing during Ramesvara’s guru puja. Ramesvara held his head down, eyes shut the entire time, at every guru puja. He did not open his eyes until the singing and flower offerings stopped.

Fast forward approximately two more weeks. Two GBC members (I can’t remember their names) arrived at New Dwarka and approached me. They demanded that I hand over the audio tape recording of my initiation ceremony. I told them I did not have a copy. They both pressured me to tell them who is in charge of audio recordings. I said I didn’t know.

They also threatened that I would be kicked out of Iskcon, if I didn’t accept Ramesvara as my diksa guru. They said Srila Prabhupada is not my guru.

As you know, so many horrible sinful behaviors, by these eleven offenders, occurred during the 80’s and beyond. All the sinful and criminal behavior is directly related to the concocted zonal acharya system. We all witnessed Ramesvara begin a dating routine of a young 15 year old named Rukmini. I witnessed on several late nights, Ramesvara driving away from New Dwarka, in the blue Mercedes, wearing a wig, and stopping to pick-up Rumini across Venice Blvd, in the alley behind the Spanish Apartments. He would return around 4am. Diksa guru behavior? We all know that the eleven disciples of Srila Prabhupada, blessed with being His ritvik representatives, now posing as diksa gurus, is a recipe for disaster and highly offensive to Srila Prabhupada and our parampara.

I share this true and verified history with you Prabhu’s to help fill in important facts that degraded our Spiritual Master’s perfect and pure society of devotees.

I spoke to Govinda dasi a few months ago and her recollection of Ramesvara’s visit to Dallas is very vivid in her mind.

These events, as I describe, are true and accurate to the best of my memory.

I have not and will not exaggerate or invent a single word in furtherance of the truth about what I, and many other aspiring devotees in New Dwarka, experienced in the 80’s and beyond.

Incidentally, after the GBC departed New Dwarka, I was approached by many senior godbrothers, who always referred to me as their godbrother, telling me not to obey such orders from those two GBC. Always hold sacred that you are a disciple of HDG Srila Prabhupada.

Namely:

Rajendranatha Prabhu

Madhua Prabhu

Nara Narayana Prabhu

Vatsal Prabhu

Jagad Isvara Prabhu

Thank you for taking the time to read this true account of some of my experiences in the early days.

I pray this letter reaches you in good health and ecstatic Krishna Consciousness.

Chant Hare Krishna and be happy.

Letter to: All G.B.C., All Temple Presidents

Vrindaban
9 July, 1977
77-07-09
To All G.B.C., and Temple Presidents
Dear Maharajas and Prabhus,
Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet. Recently when all of the GBC members were with His Divine Grace in Vrndavana, Srila Prabhupada indicated that soon He would appoint some of His senior disciples to act as “ritvik
– representative of the acarya, for the purpose of performing initiations, both first initiation and second initiation. His Divine Grace has so far given a list of eleven disciples who will act in that capacity:
His Holiness Kirtanananda Swami
His Holiness Satsvarupa dasa Gosvami
His Holiness Jayapataka Swami
His Holiness Tamala Krsna Gosvami
His Holiness Hrdayananda Gosvami
His Holiness Bhavananda Gosvami
His Holiness Hamsaduta Swami
His Holiness Ramesvara Swami
His Holiness Harikesa Swami
His Grace Bhagavan dasa Adhikari
His Grace Jayatirtha dasa Adhikari
In the past Temple Presidents have written to Srila Prabhupada recommending a particular devotee’s initiation. Now that Srila Prabhupada has named these representatives, Temple Presidents may henceforward send recommendation for first and second initiation to whichever of these eleven representatives are nearest their temple. After considering the recommendation, these representatives may accept the devotee as an initiated disciple of Srila Prabhupada by giving a spiritual name, or in the case of second initiation, by chanting on the Gayatri thread, just as Srila Prabhupada has done. The newly initiated devotees are disciples of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad, the above eleven senior devotees acting as His representative. After the Temple President receives a letter from these representatives giving the spiritual name or the thread, he can perform the fire yajna in the temple as was being done before. The name of a newly initiated disciple should be sent by the representative who has accepted him or her to Srila Prabhupada, to be included in His Divine Grace’s “Initiated Disciples” book.
Hoping this finds you all well.
Your servant,

Oct 2 1968 Seattle conversations

To help us understand clearly what is meant by spiritual master and if he needs to be “living” or not here in this short converesation Srila Prabhupada explains guru tattva.

For clarity sakes I have added the below words next to the words used in the original text

So when you read this text you will see the word-Christian-next to which I have added the word devotee in parantheses

When you see the word Bible you will see I have added Vedas

When he says Jesus Christ I have added spiritual master

When he says spiritual master he says this person is eternal, and does not leave when his physical body is gone

When he says priest I have added ritvik priest

Oct 2 1968 Seattle Wa

Madhudviṣa: Is there any way for a Christian (devotee) to, without the help of a spiritual master, to reach the spiritual sky through believing in the words of Jesus Christ and trying to follow his teachings?

Prabhupāda: I don’t follow.

Tamāla Kṛṣṇa: Can a Christian in this age, without a spiritual master, but by reading the Bible and following Jesus’s words, reach the…

Prabhupāda: When you read Bible,(Vedas) you follow spiritual master. How can you say without? As soon as you read Bible,(Vedas) that means you are following the instruction of Lord Jesus Christ,(spiritual master) that means you are following spiritual master. So where is the opportunity of being without spiritual master?

Madhudviṣa: I was referring to a living spiritual master.

Prabhupāda: Spiritual master is not the question of… Spiritual master is eternal. Spiritual master is eternal. So your question is without spiritual master. Without spiritual master you cannot be, at any stage of your life. You may accept this spiritual master or that spiritual master. That is a different thing. But you have to accept. As you say that “by reading Bible,” when you read Bible (Vedas) that means you are following the spiritual master (either Jesus or Prabhupada) represented by some priest (ritvik priest) or some clergyman (ritvik) in the line of Lord Jesus Christ. So any case, you have to follow a spiritual master. There cannot be the question without spiritual master. Is that clear?

Madhudviṣa: I mean like we couldn’t understand the teachings of the Bhagavad-gītā without your help, without your presentation.

Prabhupāda: Similarly, you have to understand Bible (vedas) with the help of the (ritvik ) priest in the church (temple).

Madhudviṣa: Yes. But is he receiving a good interpretation from his disciplic succession or his bishop (GBC) ? Because there seems to be some kind of a discrepancy in the interpretation of the Bible. There’s many different sects of Christianity (iskcon today) that interpret the Bible in different ways. (over 5000 changes alone to Bhagavad gita)
Prabhupāda: Of course, there cannot be any interpretation in the Bible. Then there is no authority of Bible (vedas). If you interpret something… Just like “Call a spade a spade.” So if you call something else, that is a different thing. He’s not spiritual master. Just like this is watch. Everybody has called it watch, and if I call it spectacle, then what is the value of my being spiritual master? I’m misleading. (laughter) It is watch, that I must say. So when there is misinterpretation, he’s not a bona fide spiritual master. He’s not spiritual master, what is called a bona fide. If I want to teach you how to see this watch, I can say that “This is called watch and this is called hand and this is called time indication; this is, this called…,” so that is nice. And if I say that “Everybody says it is watch. I say it is spectacle,” then what kind of a spiritual master I am? Reject him immediately. That intelligence you must have, who is a pseudo spiritual master or real spiritual master. Otherwise you’ll be cheated. And that is being done. Everyone is interpreting in his own way. The Bhagavad-gītā, there are thousands of editions, and they have tried to interpret in their own way, all nonsense. They should be all thrown away. Simply you have to read Bhagavad-gītā as it is. Then you’ll understand. There is no question of interpretation. Then the authority is gone. As soon as you interpret, then there is no authority. Lawbook. Do you mean to say in the court if you say before the judge, “My dear lord, I interpret this passage in this way,” will it be accepted? The judge will at once say, “Who are you to interpret? You have no right.” Then what is the authority of this lawbook if everyone comes, “I interpret in this way”? And interpretation when required? When a thing is not understood. If I say, “It is watch,” and everyone understands that “This is watch, yes,” then where is the opportunity of interpreting that this is spectacle? If anyone can understand the clear passage… Just like in the Bible, “God said, ‘Let there be creation,’ and there was creation.” Where is the question of interpretation? Yes, God created. You cannot create. Where is the opportunity of interpretation? So unnecessary interpretation is not required and that is not bona fide, and those who are interpreting unnecessarily, they should be rejected immediately. Immediately, without any consideration.
