“Origin Of Soul Discussion”

Tim Lee: Dear Daniel, good point. First of all, Srila Prabhupada says we are not supposed to use our teeny “puppy brains” to understand any issues, rather we have to realize, om ajnana timirandhasya, we are blind citizens of the material world and therefore we need to see via the transparent via media, the guru.

Srila Prabhupada says we have forgotten Krishna, we became envious of Krishna, we turned away from Krishna “bahir mukha” and so on, that means were were with Him. We left our home with God and now have to “return” — back to home. Why is this important?

It means we are responsible for our being here, and thus those who blame God for placing us here because He is a tyrant, or that God placed us here here by some accidental dice rolling, are wrong. It means we are ourselves the cause of our being here and suffering etc.
So this is important — since we should know that God is not a blind judge, putting some folks in heaven and some in material existence out of some irrational behavior on the part of God. It means it gives us a better idea of what God is like, and this is important for any bona fide devotee of God. Many folks from, for example, the post 1936 Gaudiya Matha say that we were never with Krishna, that some of us start out with Him and some without Him, God is un-equal blind justice, so this is mayavada.

We cannot blame God for our fall down:

At the same time, there are some folks who simply do not want to meditate on any of these aspects, and that is ok, it is just that for those who want a refined understanding, they can get it. The acharyas in the vaishnava line are mostly madhurya rasa, they are maid servants of God, so the more one loves God the better he understands all the features of God. Finally, if Srila Prabhupada says we were all in Krishna’s lila or sport, why should we try to dismantle what he says, since we have no way of knowing from whence we came from, at all? Thanks pd
