The ’72 edition is being printed in English and will be available for mass distribution. Inside sources say that the printing is being done in India and all regional divisions of the Bhaktivadanta Book Trust will be stocking the books.
The important meeting when the landmark decision was made took place at the beginning of 2011. The new, or should we say “old books”, should be available to devotees in all parts of the world sometime in mid-to-late 2011. So far, there has been no word on prices. Response by Jayadvaita Swami, ISKCON BBT
“For well over a decade, the BBT has followed the approach of keeping both editions of Bhagavad-gita As It Is in print.
Our experience has been that most BBT customers prefer the second edition. For example, here are the North American BBT’s sales figures for the two Gitas from January 1, 2007 through April 7, 2008:
First Edition: 550 Second Edition: 36,150
But, again, our policy has been to keep available both editions.
Because the North American BBT’s relatively small supply of the first edition has gradually been exhausted, the NA BBT is buying more, to keep it in stock.
Whichever edition you prefer, we encourage you to purchase books from the BBT and distribute them to others. Regarding Srila Prabhupada’s desire in this regard, please seewww.BBTonly.com.
