Krishna Consciousness VS: Science

“In contradicting the principles of modern psychology and sociology, which have been proven scientifically beyond any doubt, Srila Prabhupada has exceeded his authority.” Hridayananda.

Over thirty years ago, people like Hridayananda and the other 11 Zonals jumped for joy at Srila Prabhupada’s disappearance, imagining that they were free at last of his authority over them and the International Society for Krsna Consciousness. Over thirty years later, Srila Prabhupada is still, however, the leader of the Krsna consciousness movement and is still telling them what to do through his books. You cannot imagine their frustration.

Over thirty years ago they forgot the most important thing, vani and vapu. That before you can kill a great man, you must first kill his name. So over thirty years later they are still trying to get rid of him, still trying to get rid of him by editing him out of his own books. They are still trying to kill his name.

In the above noted excerpt from one of Hridayananda’s lectures we see a continuation of this effort to remove Srila Prabhupada by calling into question his education, by claiming that he was ignorant, by implying that Srila Prabhupada simply did not know what he was talking about in his books but that he went on talking anyway, the characteristic of the worst type of ignorance.

Hridayananda always imagines himself to be very clever, very intelligent, and he thinks that he has figured out the perfect solution to ISKCON’s dilemma, that solution being to divide Srila Prabhupada — to make on the one hand a Srila Prabhupada who, when he speaks on Krsna, is always accurate, and another Srila Prabhupada who is just a normal man, one who speaks out of ignorance and makes many claims when in all actuality he simply does not know what he is talking about.

By doing this, both Hridayananda and ISKCON can go through Srila Prabhupada’s books with a pen knife and cut him out every time the country bumpkin opens his mouth. They only have to retain Srila Prabhupada’s claims in regards to Sri Krsna. Unfortunately for Hridayananda, this clever little trick will not work because:

Srila Prabhupada: “I didn’t write these books, Krsna wrote these books.”

According to Hridayananda’s logic, statements made by Srila Prabhupada about Sri Krsna are supreme authority and beyond question. Statements made by him that conflict with the principles of modern day science and psychology can, however, be dismissed as simply being the errors of an old man who was poorly educated, the product of his conditioning, and who simply did not know what he was talking about in respect to modern day science.

The problem for Hridayananda and for all of ISKCON that has adapted this tactic is that if Srila Prabhupada’s statements concerning Krsna are supremely authoritative and beyond question, as they maintain, then this statement and many others similar to it must be accepted as being absolutely true. Krsna, not Srila Prabhupada, is the author of the books that they are tearing the pages out of to replace with their own

    HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada explains in the Srimad Bhagavatam Chapter 9 – Text 32 ;

    TEXT 32

Bhismadeva said: Let me now invest my thinking, feeling and willing, which were so long engaged in different subjects and occupational duties, in the all-powerful Lord Sri Krsna. He is always self-satisfied, but sometimes, being the leader of the devotees, He enjoys transcendental pleasure by descending on the material world, although from Him only the material world is created.

    PURPORT

Because Bhismadeva was a statesman, the head of the Kuru dynasty, a great general and a leader of ksatriyas, his mind was strewn over so many subjects, and his thinking, feeling and willing were engaged in different matters. Now, in order to achieve pure devotional service, he wanted to invest all powers of thinking, feeling and willing entirely in the Supreme Being, Lord Krsna. He is described herein as the leader of the devotees and all-powerful. Although Lord Krsna is the original Personality of Godhead, He Himself descends on earth to bestow upon His pure devotees the boon of devotional service. He descends sometimes as Lord Krsna as He is, and sometimes as Lord Caitanya. Both are leaders of the pure devotees. Pure devotees of the Lord have no desire other than the service of the Lord, and therefore they are called satvata. The Lord is the chief amongst such satvatas. Bhismadeva, therefore, had no other desires. Unless one is purified from all sorts of material desires, the Lord does not become one’s leader. Desires cannot be wiped out, but they have only to be purified. It is confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita by the Lord Himself that He gives His instruction from within the heart of a pure devotee who is constantly engaged in the service of the Lord. Such instruction is given not for any material purpose but only for going back home, back to Godhead (Bg. 10.10).

For the ordinary man who wants to lord it over material nature, the Lord not only sanctions and becomes a witness of activities, but He never gives the nondevotee instructions for going back to Godhead. That is the difference in dealings by the Lord with different living beings, both the devotee and the nondevotee. He is leader of all the living beings, as the king of the state rules both the prisoners and the free citizens. But His dealings are different in terms of devotee and nondevotee. Nondevotees never care to take any instruction from the Lord, and therefore the Lord is silent in their case, although He witnesses all their activities and awards them the necessary results, good or bad. The devotees are above this material goodness and badness. They are progressive on the path of transcendence, and therefore they have no desire for anything material. The devotee also knows Sri Krsna as the original Narayana because Lord Sri Krsna, by His plenary portion, appears as the Karanodakasayi Visnu, the original source of all material creation. The Lord also desires the association of His pure devotees, and for them only the Lord descends on the earth and enlivens them. The Lord appears out of His own will. He is not forced by the conditions of material nature. He is therefore described here as the vibhu, or the almighty, for He is never conditioned by the laws of material nature.

    Therefore, Hridayananda and His Dogs – Associates fall in the category of ordinary man who wants to lord it over material nature for personal sense gratifications as is described above in the Purport which reads as ;

” For the ordinary man who wants to lord it over material nature, the Lord not only sanctions and becomes a witness of activities, but He never gives the non devotee instructions for going back to Godhead. That is the difference in dealings by the Lord with different living beings, both the devotee and the non devotee. …………… ”

    All Glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Hridayananda was trying to MINIMIZE the position of Uttama Adhikari because this what these bogus gurus manufactured by bogus GBC want. They want a CHEAP SAHAJIYA VERSION of Uttama adhikari that does not see Krsna everywhere – so they can claim to be Uttama Adhikari of the CHEAP SAHAJIYA VERSION:

    The Case for Blind Uttama-adhikaris
    BY: MAHESH RAJA

Jun 03, 2010 — UK (SUN) — Regarding the Sastric Advisory Council’s Gopiparanadhana dasa Adhikari, he was also the commentator with Hridayananda dasa in their corrupt Srimad Bhagavatam purports. A brief analysis to expose just HOW bogus their ‘sastric’ understanding on the position of uttama-adhikari is, is shown below. It appears they are looking for an EXCUSE to present the bogus GBC rubber-stamped “gurus” as uttama-adhikari — the kind of “uttama-adhikari” that can NOT see Krsna everywhere — to justify their existence. So they have chosen to present Narada, Vyasa and Sukadeva as their example role-models by stating they ALSO cannot be uttama-adhikari, because they cannot see Krsna everywhere.

So their TRICK is if Narada, Vyasa and Sukadeva are to be accepted as uttama-adhikari, who they are presuming don’t see Krsna everywhere, then there would be nothing wrong with accepting bogus GBC rubber-stamped “gurus” as uttama-adhikari (who are blind as bats because they DEFINITELY DON’T SEE KRSNA).

    Good Trick?

Hridayananda dasa and Gopiparanadhana dasa’s CRICITICISM AGAINST THE FOLLOWING PURE DEVOTEES:

Canto 11, Chapter 2, Text 45 (on page 148), Hridayananda, Gopiparanadhana write:

“IF ONLY THOSE WHO CONSTANTLY SEE THE FORM OF KRSNA ARE TO BE CONSIDERED UTTAMA-ADHIKARIS,THEN NARADA, VYASA AND SUKADEVA CANNOT BE CONSIDERED TOPMOST DEVOTEES, SINCE THEY DO NOT ALWAYS SEE THE LORD EVERYWHERE”

I have presented the quotes from Srila Prabhupada’s books below, As It Is, and only HIGHLIGHTED particulars. This will enable the reader to compare what Srila Prabhupada writes.

Srimad Bhagavatam 4.31.8 Purport – Narada Instructs the Pracetas:

“In this verse bhagavan naradah indicates that NARADA IS ALWAYS ABSORBED IN THOUGHTS OF THE SUPREME PERSONALITY OF GODHEAD.”

Srimad Bhagavatam 1.6.33 – Conversation Between Narada and Vyasadeva:

“The Supreme Lord Sri Krsna, whose glories and activities are pleasing to hear, AT ONCE APPEARS ON THE SEAT OF MY HEART, AS IF CALLED FOR, AS SOON AS I BEGIN TO CHANT HIS HOLY ACTIVITIES.”

Srimad Bhagavatam 1.6.33 Purport – Conversation Between Narada and Vyasadeva:

“The Absolute Personality of Godhead is not different from His transcendental name, form, pastimes and the sound vibrations thereof. As soon as a pure devotee engages himself in the pure devotional service of hearing, chanting and remembering the name, fame and activities of the Lord, at once He becomes visible to the transcendental eyes of the pure devotee by reflecting Himself on the mirror of the heart by spiritual television. Therefore a pure devotee who is related with the Lord in loving transcendental service can experience the presence of the Lord at every moment. It is a natural psychology in every individual case that a person likes to hear and enjoy his personal glories enumerated by others. That is a natural instinct, and the Lord, being also an individual personality like others, is not an exception to this psychology because psychological characteristics visible in the individual souls are but reflections of the same psychology in the Absolute Lord. The only difference is that the Lord is the greatest personality of all and absolute in all His affairs. If, therefore, the Lord is attracted by the pure devotee’s chanting of His glories, there is nothing astonishing. Since He is absolute, He can appear Himself in the picture of His glorification, the two things being identical. Srila Narada chants the glorification of the Lord not for his personal benefit but because the glorifications are identical with the Lord. Narada Muni penetrates into the presence of the Lord by the transcendental chanting.”

Srimad Bhagavatam 1.18.16 Purport – Maharaja Pariksit Cursed by a Brahmana Boy:

“Maharaja Pariksit was such a maha-bhagavata devotee because he was initiated by a MAHA-BHAGAVATA DEVOTEE, SUKADEVA GOSVAMI.”

Srila Prabhupada Lecture on Srimad Bhagavatam, May 27, 1974, Rome:

“So Sukadeva Gosvami learned from his father, VYASADEVA, MAHA-BHAGAVATA, and he realized it, svanubhavam.”

Srila Prabhupada Lecture on Bhagavad-gita, December 6, 1972, Ahmedabad:

“So the…, this is the set-up in the first chapter of the Bhagavad-gita. This is the summary. Now sanjaya uvaca. The Sanjaya is speaking to Dhrtarastra. Sanjaya is seeing the battlefield within his heart. That is another television. And by the grace of Vyasadeva, he learned the art, that he advanced… He was so much advanced that the… Just like we see television, relay from the battlefield, and he, Duryodhana, Dhrtarastra was blind. And his secretary, Sanjaya, he was speaking. He was seeing the activities in the battlefield.”

Srimad Bhagavatam 2.9.35 Purport – Answers by Citing the Lord’s Version:

“Therefore, although He is present in every atom, the Supreme Personality of Godhead may not be visible to the dry speculators; still the mystery is unfolded before the eyes of the pure devotees because their eyes are anointed with love of Godhead. And this love of Godhead can be attained only by the practice of transcendental loving service of the Lord, and nothing else. The vision of the devotees is not ordinary; it is purified by the process of devotional service. In other words, as the universal elements are both within and without, similarly the Lord’s name, form, quality, pastimes, entourage, etc., as they are described in the revealed scriptures or as performed in the Vaikunthalokas, far, far beyond the material cosmic manifestation, are factually being televised in the heart of the devotee. The man with a poor fund of knowledge cannot understand, although by material science one can see things far away by means of television. Factually, the spiritually developed person is able to have the television of the kingdom of God always reflected within his heart. That is the mystery of knowledge of the Personality of Godhead.”

Caitanya-caritamrta Madhya 8.274 – Talks Between Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Ramananda Raya:

sthavara-jangama dekhe, na dekhe tara murti
    sarvatra haya nija ista-deva-sphurti
    SYNONYMS
    sthavara-jangama–movable and inert; dekhe–he sees; na–not; dekhe–sees; tara–its; murti–form; sarvatra–everywhere; haya–there is; nija–his own; ista-deva–worshipable Lord; sphurti–manifestation.

    TRANSLATION
“The maha-bhagavata, the advanced devotee, certainly sees everything mobile and immobile, but he does not exactly see their forms. Rather, everywhere he immediately sees manifest the form of the Supreme Lord.

    PURPORT
Due to his deep ecstatic love for Krsna, the maha-bhagavata sees Krsna everywhere and nothing else. This is confirmed in the Brahma-samhita (5.38): premanjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena santah sadaiva hrdayesu vilokayanti.

As soon as a devotee sees something–be it movable or inert–he immediately remembers Krsna.”

In conclusion, Gopiparanadhana dasa and Hridayananda das are conditioned souls. They are NOT fit for giving commentaries on Srimad Bhagavatam.

Srila Prabhupada Room Conversation, February 16, 1977, Mayapur:

Hari-sauri: “That man from Delhi said that he thought you were an incarnation of Vyasadeva.
Prabhupada: Yes. Any devotee in literary career, he is to be understood… Just like our Vrndavana dasa Thakura. He is described as incarnation of Vyasadeva because Vyasadeva wrote Bhagavatam and he wrote Caitanya-bhagavata.
    Pradyumna: Vyasa-puja.
Prabhupada: Vyasa-puja. Vyasa-prasadam. Unless one is blessed by Vyasadeva, he cannot write transcendental literature.”

His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada is always consulting Krsna

Srila Prabhupada Interview, July 14, 1976, New York:

Bali-mardana: “In other words, when you decide that someone is to be in charge of a particular temple does Krsna tell you that this person should be in charge.
Interviewer: Or do you by judging him say this person is qualified.
Prabhupada: Yes, because a devotee always consults Krsna and He gives order.
Interviewer: It’s a more direct communication.
Prabhupada: Yes. And He gives order.
Ramesvara: Because intelligence, our philosophy is that intelligence comes from Krsna. So if I have some…
Interviewer: And your philosophy is that your daily necessities come from Krsna as well.
Ramesvara: Yes, try to understand. Suppose my intelligence sees that this person is qualified, that means Krsna has told me.
Prabhupada: No, not necessarily, Krsna will tell directly. A devotee always consults Krsna and Krsna tells him, “do like this.” Not figuratively.
Interviewer: Does that apply then to other kinds of decisions and other kinds of activities as well?
Prabhupada: Everything. Because a devotee does not do anything without consulting Krsna. ”

His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada speaks as Krsna speaks.

    Caitanya-caritamrta Antya 5.71:

“One is forbidden to accept the guru, or spiritual master, as an ordinary human being (gurusu nara-matih). When Ramananda Raya spoke to Pradyumna Misra, Pradyumna Misra could understand that Ramananda Raya was not an ordinary human being. A spiritually advanced person who acts with authority, as the spiritual master, speaks as the Supreme Personality of Godhead dictates from within. Thus it is not he that is personally speaking. When a pure devotee or spiritual master speaks, what he says should be accepted as having been directly spoken by the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the parampara system.”

Caitanya-caritamrta Adi 8.39 – The Author Receives the Orders of Krsna and Guru:

“It is not possible for a common man to write books on bhakti, for his writings will not be effective. He may be a very great scholar and expert in presenting literature in flowery language, but this is not at all helpful in understanding transcendental literature. Even if transcendental literature is written in faulty language, it is acceptable if it is written by a devotee, whereas so-called transcendental literature written by a mundane scholar, even if it is a very highly polished literary presentation, cannot be accepted. The secret in a devotee’s writing is that when he writes about the pastimes of the lord, the lord helps him; he does not write himself. As stated in the Bhagavad-gita (10.10), dadami buddhi-yogam tam yena mam upayanti te. Since a devotee writes in service to the Lord, the Lord from within gives him so much intelligence that he sits down near the Lord and goes on writing books. Krsnadasa Kaviraja gosvami confirms that what Vrndavana dasa Thakura wrote was actually spoken by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and he simply repeated it”.

Srila Prabhupada Lecture on Srimad Bhagavatam, September 26, 1972, Los Angeles:

“So everything is there Srimad-Bhagavatam. That is the topmost knowledge. That is transcendental knowledge. That is not material knowledge. Material knowledge, if you write some book, it has no meaning, because it is defective. But Srimad-Bhagavatam is not ordinary knowledge. It is transcendental knowledge. There is no defect.”

  3. Amar Puri says:

Canto 11, Chapter 2, Text 45 (on page 148), Hridayananda, Gopiparanadhana write:

“IF ONLY THOSE WHO CONSTANTLY SEE THE FORM OF KRSNA ARE TO BE CONSIDERED UTTAMA-ADHIKARIS,THEN NARADA, VYASA AND SUKADEVA CANNOT BE CONSIDERED TOPMOST DEVOTEES, SINCE THEY DO NOT ALWAYS SEE THE LORD EVERYWHERE”.

From the above defective translation by conditioned souls such as Hridayananda, Gopiparanadhana, we the readers can understand from the Sastras that Sri Narada, Srila Vyasadev , Sri Sukadeva and others are the prominent Personalities in the disciplic succession of Lord Brahma Sampradaya as accepted by all the previous Acarayas, and yet Sriman Hridayananda dasa and associates write in their commentary that they ( NARADA, VYASA AND SUKADEVA ) do not always SEE the Lord everywhere which indicates strongly that Hridayanada dasa and associates are totally NON – devotees as is confirmed in the purport of Srimad Bhagavatam Chapter 9 — Text 32.
